Howdy, folks!
We’re heading into the final months of 2021, and for something different, I want to give y’all a peek at what albums I still plan to cover as they release, as well as my backlog of projects I’m hoping to cover before the end of the year.
Why?
Well, part of it is that, in theory, I likely won’t get to everything before the end of December, try as I may. So I’m curious to hear back from y’all on what I should prioritize or if there’s anything not on my radar that should be on it. I’ll do my best to honor any requests, though I can’t guarantee anything. This is your chance to have your voice heard! You can either comment below, email me at themusicaldivide@gmail.com, or reach out to me on Twitter, @pointofdivide.
Anyway, I’m planning on doing a review roundup sometime next week to discuss the latest projects from Cody Johnson, Side Pony, and Joshua Ray Walker, so anything aside from those projects released today will move to the backlog for now.
OK, dividing this list up into separate categories, let’s start with …
Albums I Definitely Plan to Cover When Released
- The Royal Hounds – A Whole Lot of Nothin’ (Oct. 15)
- Zac Brown Band – The Comeback (Oct. 15 – and more because I’m morbidly curious to hear what this follow-up to The Owl will be like, rather than have any expectations of quality)
- Emily Scott Robinson – American Siren (Oct. 29)
- Charles Wesley Godwin – How the Mighty Fall (Nov. 5)
- Cody Jinks – Mercy (Nov. 12)
Albums I May Cover When Released
- Lilly Hiatt – Lately (Oct. 15)
- Erin Enderlin – Barroom Mirrors (EP) (Oct. 15)
- Tenille Arts – Girl to Girl (Oct. 29)
- Hayes Carll – You Get It All (Oct. 29)
- Elvie Shane – Backslider (Oct. 29)
- Jason Boland & the Stragglers – The Light Saw Me (Dec. 3)

Sorry for just now seeing this, muddywatt, but I’ll add them right away. The Willie Nelson album seems like it’ll be a fun side project, which usually don’t give me much to work with for a review, but I definitely plan on checking it out! Thanks for the comment, too!
